Webuye Member of Parliament Alfred Sambu has said there is need for the government to invest in nurturing spotted talents in sports among the youths in different regions of the country as a way of creating occupation and employment opportunities for them.

Speaking at a football tournament at Pan Paper Grounds in Webuye, Sambu emphasized on the importance of nurturing the talents at a young and tender age, once noticed stating that it’s a trend in most developed countries and that Kenyan government should emulate.

“Most developed countries have soccer academies where children with a talent in soccer join in at an early age and through it they manage to develop the talent to greater heights to even make it the person’s occupation in life,” said Sambu.

He stated that its time for such talents to be recognized  besides academic  qualification so as to avoid locking out the non performers in the academic field and provide them with a platform to showcase their talent.

He called upon the youths to exercise and utilize their democratic right well and in an intelligent manner so as to elect development oriented leaders in the forth coming General elections that will take place in the course of the year.

“This year’s elections are a unique experience in all states in Africa and therefore, it’s for us Kenyans to take it serious and exercise a free and fair elections as most states are watching to see how it will go, we should therefore focus on our main goal which is electing leaders and leave out the side shows,” said Sambu.

Development in the county, according to Sambu is the way forward in the devolved government that is anticipated in the constitution, he spoke of reinforcing Pan Paper factory’s revival, the launching of Ethanol plant along river Kibisi and Hydroelectric power plant at Nabuyole falls in Webuye.Lugusi football stars in red who emerged the winners at the tournament playing with Ndivisi Stars at the Pan Paper Stadium.

He refuted the trend of citizens voting on tribal lines and blocking out leaders who are not of their tribe but have clear visions for development and are conscious of their electorate’s welfare.

“For there to be continued development, then people should stop voting on tribal lines and focus on the development in the regions hence vote for good leaders that will bring forth the same,” said Sambu.

At that tournament, Lugusi football stars emerged winners and they were awarded a trophy, Sh.15,000, new uniforms for the team, new sports shoes per person and six new balls. The other participating teams got in football category got each three balls and uniforms.
