Two former Saboti Constituency Development Fund -CDF officials on Thursday were arraigned before a Kitale Anti-Corruption court facing several charges related to corruption and misappropriation of funds.
Before Kitale chief magistrate Maxwell Gicheru was Thadeus Wekesa Makokha and Charles Maina Wafula who faced three counts of offenses jointly with two others who were not before the court. (Read: Saboti CDF officials to face trial in Kitale on corruption charges
The two with their two accomplices Isaac Masengeli and Ignatius Katasi Maina are said to have uttered false documents and agreements including minutes of a project management meeting in one of the schools in the constituency in count one contrary to section 353 of the penal code.
They were also accused of fraudulent acquisition of public property contrary to section 45(a) by misappropriating over Kshs 700,000 meant for construction of a borehole at Nabunga secondary school within the constituency.
The four were also said to have misappropriated funds of Saboti constituency funds.
The two present officials who were represented by their lawyer Gideon Barongo denied all the charges and were remanded till May 5 when the case will be mentioned to pave way for a hearing on 22nd August.
However, the two suspects were given an option of being released on a bond of Kshs 300,000 with a surety of the same amount without an option of cash bail.
The magistrate also released summons for the two missing suspects to avail themselves before the court during the date of mentioning the case. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
