Celebrating the pillar of the society as the world marks Mothers’ Day

Mothers today have all the reasons to be celebrated for the sacrifice they take to make us who we are and the contribution they always put in to make us grow up.

When you hear of mother’s day, what comes in mind? Others assume it’s only for those who have been blessed with children or mostly women and not men, but no this year’s mother’s day should be special to everybody. It’s a day set aside to appreciate the woman behind your strength; your mother.

It’s in the simple things she has done for you that no one else in the same position, would ever have done for you. The special moments you share the mentorship and role modeling that has nurtured and molded you to who you are today.

Mothers are special of a kind that every time you walk, think of the sacrifice they had to go through to bring you forth, many have had to forego their studies to give birth, others their jobs and others their lives.

Imagine of that mother who died while giving birth, despite that beautiful or handsome baby that was born; a big sacrifice indeed in favor of life.

Mothers have all the chance to do away with the pregnancy but from the registered growth in population all over the world, it’s a big evidence of just how much mothers demonstrates care and love.

For 9 months they carry the child to safe delivery, if they were to be careless during the expectancy time, there would never be a president, a leader, a minister, a preacher, nurse, doctor, teacher, pilot, lawyer, cyclist, driver and many other professionals.

No one can ever take the place of a mother; not a spouse, a child, a father or an aunt, not now not ever, there are times from childhood to adulthood. When you had lost hope in everything, the only person who can restore it is your mother.

A friend once told me that his mother is not a woman. It caught me by surprise and I kept wondering what that statement meant. Through time I have come to agree with him, that a mother is not just like any other woman.

Ladies and girls have the same features with a mother but a mother supersedes them all. She has a heart of gold and extra generous mind. When others think of high salary paying jobs, a mother would forego work to take care of her baby.

When the child is all grown up and with no job, the mother would still take care of him or her regardless of how long it will take him to get back on his two feet.

When the father is jobless or loses his job, the mother automatically becomes a father, a friend, a lover and a teacher; she would struggle to put food on the table and provide for all the children’s upkeep.

Despite all the glory bestowed upon the mother figure, there exists a big challenge for those who end up being step mothers to fill in the space left by a dying mother or a divorced spouse, learn to treat the innocent children as your own.

For the barren, it’s a day to celebrate the will and hope that one day, a time will come when you will bring forth a human being. Mistreating other people’s children will not make one a mother but being warm and caring to those who need it will automatically make you one.

For mothers, it’s upon you too to check on your deeds and ask yourself whether there is any reason why you should be celebrated today. Are you one who look back and regret the selfish act of abortion or one who smiles back at the numberless children she has cared for?

As we celebrate this day, it’s time to confirm within ourselves if you have ever done a thing to show appreciation for the sacrifice she has had to do for you. If not, then here is the chance for you, each year on 13th May to celebrate her good work and make her feel loved.

Happy Mother’s Day!
