Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court Dr. Willy Mutunga has cautioned Kenyans against bribing of Judges and Magistrates saying that Kenyans are used to the habit of bribing Judges and Magistrates which must stop.
Speaking during the launch of Tuvuke campaign in Nairobi Mutunga said that the Judiciary is yet to unveil a similar initiative dubbed justice to the people that will see judiciary staff, judges and magistrates walk from one court to another countrywide preaching peace and calling for the respect of the new constitution.
Mutunga called upon Kenyans to remain peaceful saying that Violence can destroy this nation. Mutunga cited that as per the preamble of the Kenyan constitution which states that we are proud of our ethnic cultural and religious diversity and are determined to live in peace and harmony, Tuvuke initiative is a patriotic project which will fulfill the constitutional vision.
On the constitution, Mutunga said that the campaign will seek to create awareness on peaceful, free and fair elections and respect for the constitution.
The Tuvuke campaign will be targeting areas which are said to be hotspots and prone to violence, it will encourage women to take up leadership, address land injustices, promote respect for human rights and democracy as well as partner with IEBC in promoting the number of voters.
