Children from Bungoma East have called upon Kenyans to visualize a new Kenya through peaceful elections and to cease from the infamous last general elections commotions.

In the message passed across through their poems, songs and dances in the just concluded district level Music Festival in Bungoma East district for the Primary schools, they called for free and fair elections as the key to good leadership.

The ceremony was attended by over 112 schools among the 127 schools in the district, with each school competing to emerge the best under the different categories of presentation.

According to the festivals’ Secretary Mr. Charles Maloba early talent identification and nurturing is important in life as it prepares the child for his vision into his future life.

“It’s good for children to identify their talents at an early age to assist them mold it into future career in life,” said Maloba.

Maloba also reveals that the children who are active participants in such co-curriculum activities also perform well in academics. He explains that the active participation refreshes the child’s mind to make the child to be open-minded and easy to grasp what is taught in class.

Maloba called upon parents to assist in nurturing the talents of their children back at home and not just to leave the burden upon teachers.

“For the children who identify their talent early have an upper hand to those who do it later in life, because they may not have much chance to exploit it and nurture it to its best,” said Maloba.

He dismissed the perception by some parents that participation in such activities as time wasting and offered himself as a living example of a successful career person who started at a tender age.

Among the outstanding performances in the festival, was Nabuyole FYM Primary school through their own composition poem; it’s a new dawn by Mr. Juma Bin Masinde which expresses the wishes of most Kenyans towards a better tomorrow.

They call upon Kenyans above 18 years of age to register for National Identity cards and vote for a respectable and able leader.

“Wakati umeshatimu, tusirudie makosa,

tujitwike majukumu, tupige kura hasa,

kura yako ni muhimu ,kwa kizazi cha sasa,

kumekucha tufahamu Kenya mpya iwe sasa.” A quote from the poem.

They continue to educate Kenyans on the importance of vetting their leaders in order to vote in good leaders in the forthcoming elections.
