Residents of Kimilili District of Bungoma County have been urged to dwell fully in poultry farming as a way of supplementing on their normal agricultural practices in order to capitalize on the market of the soon to be commissioned poultry slaughter house at the neighboring Chwele market.
Speaking to residents at Kwiroro market, the Kimilili District Commissioner Joseph Lewa said with the slaughter house providing a ready market, poultry farmers in the region need to have a consistence supply so as to be able to raise their living standards through better chicken prices.
He further applauded the Ministry of Livestock Development for coming up with the project saying it will go a long way to boost the economy of Bungoma County.
'' With chicken being one of the adored meals in this region many will have to travel from far places in order to have a feel of the regions traditional touch,'' Said Lewa.
He disclosed that as part of the expected developments in the district a university will soon be opening its doors for admission hence called upon parents to take advantage of such opportunities to educate their children to higher levels.
He also called upon investors to construct hostels and hotels in the town as a way of helping the town grow economically.
However the District Commissioner cautioned the residents against issuance of bribes to gain favors for services saying it is an offensive act.
He called upon the residents to report any such matters to his office or the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission offices.
For the elderly persons he assured them that they will benefit from the second face of the batch that will be released from the ministry of Social Services saying that only 9 benefited from the first batch in the district. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
