Mundika residents in Busia County woke up to a rude shock after they found bodies of two people killed, thrown outside a homestead at Khung’ungu village, Bukhayo West location.
It was alleged that the two might have been killed by unknown assailants before being dumped in the area.
According to the owner of the homestead Mr Vincent Adeti, they came to learn of the incident from a small child who had gone to their home to ask for some maize after being sent by his parents.
“Before moving out of the gate at around 7.30 am, a child came in and reported that there was a body lying outside the gate,” said Adeti, adding that the next body which had been hidden in the maize plantation was spotted by curious residents who turned in numbers to ascertain what had transpired.
The area Chief Chrispinus Mauda said the two said to be below 30 years of age had not been identified but investigations launched to ascertain their district of origin.
“The two seem to have been killed somewhere else and thrown in this area. There are no signs to signify that there was a struggle at the scene where the bodies were recovered,” said Mauda.
Speaking to West FM, the area residents called on the police officers to speedily investigate the issue in a bid to ensure those involved are punished in line with the law.
“It is quite shocking to find people killed and thrown outside someone’s homestead. This is an indication that if the security agencies do not beef up security the local residents will greatly suffer following the escalating criminal activities,” said a concerned resident.
The incident comes a few days after more than 10 thugs terrorized various villages in Bukhayo North location, Busia County, escaping with money and various assorted goods.
