Lugari youth cleaning the environment at Lumakanda Trading Center
The government has encouraged the unemployed youth to be ready to assist it conduct a peaceful and successful forthcoming General Election.
This was said by acting Lugari District Commissioner Mr. Richard Ajwang’ when he presided over the official flagging off of Lugari Environmental Day at Lumakanda trading centre.
Addressing the youths present, Mr. Ajwang’ said for a successful General Election the government will rely on their services right from voter registration exercise to polling days.
“And when called upon by the government to serve in such capacities remember to discharge your duties with a lot of diligence and honest in order to avoid a repeat of the 2008 election violence,” said Mr. Ajwang’.
The DC praised area CDF and Lugari Environmental Group (LEG) officials for involving the youth in most of their programmes.
LEG chairperson Mr. Herman Lovega disclosed that Lugari CDF office allocated 300,000 shillings to facilitate the two day clean up exercise in four locations, Lumakanda, Mautuma, Chekalini and Lugari.
Mr. Lovega said that Lugari Environmental Group in conjunction with the Constituency Development Committee were determined to ensure a clean environment within Lugari and therefore appealed to area residents to join hand in preserving and maintaining a cleaner environment.
