Justice and Constitutional Minister Eugene Wamalwa have asked Western Province residents to embrace peace ahead of the general elections.

Wamalwa urged the residents to be ambassadors of peace and shun activities that would disrupt peace in the state.

He said this at St Mark Machakus Secondary School in Teso South District Friday evening during   a fundraising ceremony for laboratory construction.

He pleaded with them to learn from the post poll violence that made many lose their lives and other thousands rendered homeless to date.

The Saboti legislator also implored the residents to unit, speak one language and elect their   leaders wisely to ensure development in the area and constitutional changes.

He noted that Western Province comprises of many communities and asked leaders to be on the forefront to unit them in a bid to end tribalism.

“Western Province has many tribes and not  only the Iteso , this factor calls for togetherness and unity as we are headed towards the  vital exercise of electing leaders who will lead Kenyans wisely. It is upon you people to join together and elect leaders with clean records for the state to experience good changes .You should always remain vigilant not to be used by leaders of self interest who will leave you languishing in poverty,” explained Eugene.

Eugene further more asked residents to play a role of ensuring that counties become a unity of national cohesion and not a block that would divide people on tribal lines.

Other leaders present in the ceremony were Labor assistant minister Sospeter O’ojaamong and Naivasha legislator John Mututho.

They together with the residents managed to raise Sh 672,885.  Wamalwa contributed Sh100,000 shillings to facilitate the laboratory construction.
