A stock theft suspect is nursing injuries at the Lumakanda District Hospital after he was attacked by irate members of the public while transporting an animal suspected to have been stolen.
The suspect was cornered by the crowd at the Kipkaren Trading Center along the Lugari- Uasin Gishu border.
His attempts to flee by jumping onto the cabin of a mobile locomotive was thwarted by the blood thirsty crowd that pulled him down and attempted to lynch him before administration police from the nearby Kipkaren outpost arrived in time to save him.
The officers were forced to seek reinforcement from Lumakanda police station to control the surging crowd.
It’s suspected that the animal had been stolen from Mbakalu areas in the neighboring Bungoma North District and was being herded to Kipkaren slaughter house. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
