St Anthony's boys’ high school Kitale have clinched the Trans Nzoia county secondary schools soccer championship after thrashing Friends Bwake secondary 4-0 in the finals held at Kenyatta stadium in Kitale.
The victors got their goals from Peter Kamau and Gabriel Andika in the first half before Wafula Mulanda sealed Bwake's fate by netting two goals in the second half of the entertaining encounter watched by a huge crowd.

Before the finals, St. Anthony walloped St Francis Kolongolo 7-0 in the first semi final while Bwake had a walk over against Holy Trinity Saboti who failed to turn up for the game on time and hence their opponents were awarded the points that saw them sail to the finals.
In other games Kabuyefwe Girls emerged winners of the girls soccer after beating the regular winners, Wiyeta through post-match penalties following a 1 all draw in normal time and extra time.
In volleyball boys, Kiptenden beat St Anthony 3 sets against 2 in the final while in the girls category Weaverbird beat Kabuyefwe 3-2 sets to clinch the county title.
The winners of the county will now participate in the Rift Valley provincial championships slated for Tuesday and Wednesday next week in Kapenguria in West Pokot district.
However this year's secondary schools provincial championships are the last ones of that kind before the ushering in of new arrangements under the regions that shall see several counties form a region.
Seven counties in Western and North Rift regions shall form the new Nzoia region that shall see the Western province teams that have been reigning in various sports including soccer and volleyball meet the likes of St Anthony and Wiyeta that have also been leading in the North Rift.
The seven counties in the Nzoia County include Kakamega, Vihiga, Busia, Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, West Pokot and Turkana Switch to Our Mobile Site |
