A standard five pupil at Okatekok Primary School of Teso South District is nursing head injuries at the Busia District Hospital after he was hit on the head with a club over what was termed as “love swindle.”
It is alleged that a Mathew Awour, 14, was smacked on the head with a club after a fight ensued between him and Geofrey Omojong, 30, a married man with children, over a girl whom the two happened to have developed interest on.
The incident happened at night in a burial preparation of a neighbor where the three of them were attending.
Sources who witnessed the incident revealed that Omojong was not happy when he realized that the boy was having a jovial conversation with the primary school girl he also wanted to engage in a conversation.
The man is said to have crawled towards the two love birds and immediately hit and fractured the forehead of the primary school boy before vanishing into a nearby sugarcanes plantation leaving the boy bleeding profusely and helpless.
Mourners rescued the boy by rushing him to Busia District Hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Police are now hunting the suspect who fled on Saturday night and are calling upon any one with vital information on the where about of the man to report to Kotur Police Station for the suspect to be apprehended.
The incident has shocked neighbors led by area village elder Silvanus Omoge who has asked the married men to desist infidelity and lead by example adding that school children should put first priority on education. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
