Lwandet Location chief Mr. Francis Lumbasi Munialo and his wife Judith Nafula are recuperating in hospital with serious machete cuts after they were attacked by a gang of unknown people last night at their home in Matete district.
According to the area police Chief John Leshimpiro a gang of armed assailants attacked the couple before mid night after they gained entry into the compound as the administrator slept.
He said they dragged the chief’s wife from the kitchen where she was concluding her daily chores demanding that she surrenders her husband’s rifle.
“After she confessed that the husband did not hold a fire arm they embarked on hitting her with blunt objects leading to a commotion that attracted the officer from the bedroom”, the OCPD narrated adding that he accosted the thugs who overpowered him beating him senseless.
The injured couple is undergoing treatment at the Webuye District HAospital as police pledge to carry out comprehensive investigations that would lead to the arrest of the culprits.
