Drama unfolded over the weekend in Kiriko Village of Teso North District when irate public members stormed a suspected wizard, ambushed and frog matched him to a home of a deceased he is believed to have bewitched.
The suspect, Karani Emeje 56-years was attacked by a rowdy mob over the death of James Ouma 27-years and led to the deceased homestead where he was forced to sleep next to the dead body after he had been seriously attacked.
The anxious crowd armed with crude weapon is believed to have descended upon the man beating him mercilessly rendering him breathless.
Teso Police Boss Elphas Korir who confirmed the incidents revealed that the suspect was rescued from the hands of the enraged public members by police officers acting on a tip off and rushed to Teso District Hospital Kocholya in a serious condition.
The OCPD said that the suspect suffered fractured legs and several multiple injuries on his body and added that the police have rolled out inquiries over the incident.
Mr.Korir has warned the public to desist such outdated cultural and uncouth behaviors instead to embrace peaceful activities and work together.
Teso medical superintended Mrs. Emma Namulala has confirmed that the suspect suffered fractured legs lost a lot of blood and he is depressed over the incident. Namulala also revealed that he is out of danger as a blood transfusion has been done on him.
However Hospital sources on condition of anonymity told the press that the deceased believed to have died after being bewitched died from meningitis’s contrary to the public accusations.
