The Kenyan Premier League leaders AFC leopards will be battling with their rivals Mathare united in surch for the confederation cup ticket.
34 teams have registered for the tournament, four teams will start from round one so that two can be picked to join the remaining 30 and make 32 teams for the knockout tournament.
Last year’s finalists and 2010 winners Sofapaka will play Ulinzi Stars at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani, Sacramento will welcome Western Stima at the Stima Club in Nairobi, Homeboys will play host to Bidco United at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, Longonot Horticulture will be in Karuturi playing against Mahakama, Tax men KRA will welcome Malindi United at the Public Service Grounds, Congo United plays Isiolo Youth at the City stadium, while Raiply will host Nzoia United at the Eldoret Polytechnic on Saturday.
On Sunday, defending champions Gor Mahia will start the defense of their crown with a match up against Borabu Chiefs from Kisii at the City Stadium, Tusker will play Keroka Technical at the Nyayo Stadium, Karuturi welcomes Nakumatt at the Old Trafford, Nairobi Stima plays host to Shabana at the Stima Club, University side Wazito plays Moyas at the Nairobi University Grounds, while Muhoroni Youth play West Sugar in Muhoroni.
