Defending Olympics Champion Pamela Jelimo, world championships bronze medalist Janet Jepkosgei and Koech Cherono all qualified for the semi finals of the women 800m in the ongoing London Olympics games to be run on Thursday night.
Jelimo ran at a speed of 2:00.54 emerging the winner in his slot ahead of Lyndsey Sharp of Great Britain who ran at a speed of 2:01.41 and Filandra Eleni from Greece who finished 3rd after running at a speed of 2:02.29.
Jepkosgei was impressive in the final heat (6) finishing first on after running at a speed of 2:01.04 ahead of Russia’s Poistogova Ekaterina who ran at a speed of 2:01.08 as Koech Cherono finished third in heat 5 at a speed of 2:08.43 behind Russia’s Arzakhova Elena.
American Johnson Montano ran at a speed of 2:00.47 taking the first place in the first heat ahead of the former world champion Caster Semenya who ran at a speed of 2:00.71 and Morocco’s Hachlaf Halima who finished third after running at a speed of 2:00.99 as the World champion Mario Savinova of Russia won heat two alongside USA Schmidt Alice and India’s Luka Tintu.
