An unknown number of thugs Thursday evening broke into three government offices in Teso North District and made away with ten computers according to the area DC Mrs. Josephine Onunga (Right) who revealed that the robbers broke and entered three offices: Education, Information and Civic registration during the 6pm raid.
She said that the robbery was a conspiracy between the staff and some criminals adding that the computer literate personnel are behind the deal to so as to open cyber cafes in town saying that their first lead will be ICT centers to check the stolen computers.
“It is an inside job, the padlocks were broken and replaced immediately and the staff said had left the offices intact and administration police officers attached to the premises were there.”
However, those who were on duty assert that they realized the offices were broken while on their nightshifts.
The DC further noted that security personnel from Bungoma and Kakamega are on the ground to establish inquiries about the incident adding that the provincial administration is not going to relent till all suspects are apprehended and dealt with.
The expert team locked out the staff of the affected offices for three hours as they launched investigations into the incident which comes barely two months when six motorbikes were stolen in the DC premises with no suspect arrested so far.
Teso Civic leaders have raised concern over the issue saying that it is out of order that the Dc’s premises could be raided now and then for the second time while the DC is giving a deaf ear on the matter with no single suspect being arrested.
Malaba Town Council Public Officer Stephine Otwane claimed that the staff is innocent and should not have recorded statement with police saying that the security personnel manning the premises is to blame over the incident. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
