Football Kenya Federation North Western Branch on Sunday handed Secretary Benjamin Mamai an indefinite suspension and replaced him with his deputy, Peter Makali in an acting capacity.
An Executive Committee meeting in Bungoma presided over by branch chairman, Moses Kubai found the secretary guilty of three offences.
Mamai was accused of going to the press to attack the chairman and treasure, Dick Wanyama over financial impropriety at the branch.
Mamai tabled evidence alleging that Kubai was receiving money from provincial clubs via M-Pesa instead of having it channeled to the federation account.
The members were also told that the secretary wrote to the Federation CEO, Omondi Aduda without passing through the branch.
The chairman had also claimed that his secretary during the SGM in Nairobi approached national chairman, Sam Nyamweya over his accommodation moneys.
Mamai was also alleged to have slept in the camp of those who were opposed to the FKF constitution, the claim the committee members dismissed.
Kubai also claimed during the meeting that Mamai wrote to Aduda rejecting national technical chairman, Elly Mukolwe from arbitrating in his stalemate with the chairman.
Contacted Kubai declined to comment but Aduda said the reasons given by the branch were too flimsy to warrant suspension.
Mamai stood by the contents of the letter he wrote to FKF CEO and dismissed the purported move to suspend him as an exercise in futility. Switch to Our Mobile Site |
