A retired veterinary officer is being held at the Kitale Police Station for allegedly murdering his 26 year old son following a domestic quarrel at their home in Meru Farm within Trans Nzoia West District.

Richard Wachira in early 60s is said to have arrived home while drunk and pulled a quarrel with his son accusing him of not marrying among other accusations.

According to Kitale OCPD Lucas Ogara, the deceased Benson Wachira was stabbed by a kitchen knife in the stomach and died as he was being rushed to hospital.

"The man who is a retired veterinary officer is said to have arrived home when he was drunk and started quarreling with his son and wife before he stabbed him using a kitchen knife and injured the wife on a thigh," said the police boss.

The drunkard man's wife Njeri Wachira has been admitted at Cherangani Nursing home in Kitale as the body of his son is lying at the Mt Elgon Hospital mortuary.

The deceased is said to be a staff member at the Kitale district hospital.

Elsewhere, five people were arrested Saturday morning after they were involved in a scuffle that led to the breaking of windscreens and other parts of a matatu vehicle at Village Inn along the Kitale-Eldoret highway.

The five were said to be in a group of drunkard youths who were taking two boys for circumcision from the river towards Kwa Muthoni area when the Matatu came and they refused to give way for the vehicle.

Police confirmed that all the glasses of the vehicle were destroyed and the driver and conductor seriously injured leading to the driver being admitted in one of the hospitals within Kitale.

The two boys who were headed for the knife also received minor injuries during the incident but they could be spared the knife as they were taken to accomplish the mission before other treatment was sought.
