Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi has urged Kenyans in the forth coming general election to elect a religious president capable of leading the country in line with values of God.

Speaking to a congregation at Friends Church during their yearly meeting at Kimalewa, Bungoma Central District, Musalia who stopped over while on his Mount Elgon region campaign trail said he is the most suitable for the position having been brought up as a strict Quaker since his childhood by his late father Moses Mudavadi.

“Our church demands that if you have to attain full membership one of the qualification is you ought to have  only one wife of which I have, therefore, you need to  carefully vet others also before deciding who is best suited for this position” said Mudavadi.

He added that apart from having core Christian values he has served in various top capacities in the current and previous government; hence have him gain the necessary experience to serve Kenyans in the top office.

“I have served as minister in the ministries’ of finance, agriculture, transport and communication, supplies and marketing, local government, a vice president and finally a deputy prime minister and also participated in various committees like the Serena talks with Dr Koffi Annan that saw the two top parties share power after the last general election, thus my record speaks for itself” added Mudavadi.

On his part former Trade and Industry Minister Mukhisa Kituyi called upon the Christians to pray to God to show them out of the Luhyia candidates who have so declared to vie for presidency who is the most preferred by Kenyans to carry the mantle and to ask others to back him for the position.

He said that the unity will enable people from the western region to be in a better position of clinching the top seat rather than having other regions take advantage of them to continue gaining political leadership of the country.

However, he called upon Kenyans to maintain peace ahead of the general election saying it is the only way to achieve development.

His sentiments were echoed by area councilor who is also the Bungoma county council chairman Meshack Museveni, and his Mount Elgon counterpart Amos Tulgon who supported the call for unity among top Luhyia community leaders to dialogue and have one flag bearer for the top sit in order to command the residents’ votes.
