Respect the church urges the clergy

Followers of Christ are expected to represent a true picture of Christ. Despite the mushrooming churches all over the country, you will come across a few of them who do not uphold the values of the church.

According to the book of genesis in the holy bible, God created the universe, all creatures, vegetation and all members of the solar system but on the seventh day He rested. After which he ordered (wo)man to keep the Sabbath holy specifically for worshiping. No one is to use this day for personal gains but to be in a place of worship whether private or public.

My question is: how many times have we gone to church late? Many a times we go to church late if not absenting completely from church service without being remorseful. What disrespect to our creator!

There is a strong appetite for money that has entered into heads of a few believers making them to forsake the God’s commandments. Sometimes we annoy God, so dear brothers and sisters it is a time we need to repent about this ‘appetite for money’. That’s why it is healthy to attend some of these repentance prayer meetings organized by the Jesus is lord team.

Sometimes we hear sexy ringing tones during prayer meetings in our churches, see people carry news papers to churches and people moving in and out of the church as preaching is going on. How do these activities relate to Christianity?

Rivalry, jealousy, and individualism have rocked a few denominations. There have been cases of disagreements among leaders and believers, maybe scrambling for the top most positions in the church among other personal issues.

Misanga Friends Church in the recent past witnessed a funny scenario where somebody had formed a habit of defecating at the door step of the church daily. Although the person was not identified, he was such a nuisance to the church members of Misanga village Bungoma County.

Cases have been reported where robbers broke into churches to steal property. Is there a term we can use to describe these church robbers?

People talk of their Sunday best when mentioning their clothes. Which attire do you normally put on when going to church? This is very tricky especially to our sisters in Christ, because sometimes some of them put on skirts that put the congregation on temptation. Remember the sound produced by your sharp pointed shoes while entering in church late, does it make anyone turn to stare at you? It is one way through which we’ve made people lose concentration in church.

Money is another issue in church. Why do you think politicians are easily welcomed in our churches? Is it not their big offertory? Well, anyway each person has a right to worship from whichever the place. Don’t forget the phone numbers for M-pesa, YU-cash, and airtel money for our so called preachers.

Ever heard a gossip about your pastor/bishop/priest? Servants of God are to be respected without question if we are to expect God’s blessings.

All these occurrences can be corrected if we trust in the lord. Christ is the answer, let us all return to the lord our provider.
