UDF party calls for political tolerance as it looks forward to open offices in Bungoma County |

Supporters of various parties in Bungoma County have been urged to embrace political tolerance as the United Democratic Forum- UDF party is set to open its offices in Bungoma County. Addressing the press in Bungoma town during the launching of the interim Bungoma County UDF party officials, the organizing secretary Mr. Simon Majani said residents of this region should take their varied party affiliations as political competition and not a political war. Mr. disclosed that the UDF party offices Bungoma County branch are set to be officially opened by the presidential candidate, Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi next week. In addition he said after the official opening, there will be a launch of party member’s recruitment exercise that will be conducted in all the 9 districts within Bungoma County. “We know that UDF is a new party in this region, but we appeal to residents to allow us carry out our programs because in essence we will not force anybody to join the party,’’ Majani urged. He said the youth in Bungoma County should avoid being misused by selfish politicians to attack members of opponent parties instead give an enabling environment to all parties to sell their policies peacefully ahead of the general elections. The interim organizing secretary said leaders of varies political parties must be on the fore front to preach unity and coexistence in a move to ensure the forth coming elections are peaceful and avert skirmishes that occurred in 2007culminating from the unprecedented presidential elections. He said after the Nakuru rally, UDF is headed for Mombasa County before going to other regions of the country to popularize the party ahead of the much hyped polls. Meanwhile, John Murumba Chikati, Wafula Makhanu, Nolyne Simiyu and Simon Majani will be the chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and organizing secretary al respectively on interim basis. |
