The manager of KCB Bank Kimilili Branch Alex Simiyu led his staff to plant 2000 tree seedlings in Matili Technical Training Institute in Kimilili district aimed at environmental conservation especially in learning institutions.

Speaking during the function, Mr. Simiyu disclosed that the tree planting program has been going on for the last four years saying last year they planted the same number of trees in Chesamisi High School.  

He said apart from a tree planting program, they also donated 30 computers to Eluya Secondary school in Bungoma North district and special learning equipments and learning materials for pupils with disability in Lwanda primary school in Kimilili.

 The manager revealed that the program is part of its social responsibility to the community meant to cultivate a good working relationship with all stakeholders in the region.

While urging parents to invest heavily in the education of their children as a best legacy, he said the institution also do sponsor education of bright students from poor families up to university.

He challenged residents of Kimilili to embrace the culture of saving for future investments saying the bank now enjoys more than 14,000 customers.

“People should shy from loans because this the only way they can develop and become economically empowered,’’ he urged.

Also present was the Principal of Matili T.T.I Alex Alegwa said the project was key especially to help improve the environment on the new campus which is now open without trees.

He said the institution welcomes all forms of support to make sure the students have an enabling environment to post good results.

The board members Hilary Wafula and Mrs. Mirriam Kimukung applauded the bank for its support saying apart from the trees protecting heavy winds; it will also provide a good shade for students to study.
