Bungoma man arraigned in court for deliberately infecting his wife with HIV.

A middle aged man has today been arraigned in a Bungoma court and charged of deliberate transmission of HIV virus to his wife contrary to section 26(1) (b) of the sexual offences act no: 3 of 2006.

According to prosecution, Vincet Makwata Ododa from Mashambani area within Bungoma Township on 18th June this year withdrew his blood using a clinical syringe and intentionally injected his wife with the blood having actual knowledge that he was infected with the HIV Virus.

Ododa was also charged on three more counts of attempted rape, causing grievous body harm and malicious damage to property i.e. his wife’s clothes.

Before the Bungoma senior resident magistrate Walter Nyarima, the accused denied all the four charges put before him and was released on a bond of KSH 50,000 with a serenity of the same amount or a cash bail of ksh 20,000.

The case is set for hearing on 23rd August this year.
