Thousands of farmers turned up alongside other stakeholders and management at Nzoia sugar company to attend its first Corporate day and celebrate the massive strides made in developing the factory since its inception  in 1978.

An appraised rebranding of Nzoia Sugar Company took centre stage on this Corporate day where the company exhibited its newly rebranded products to the public Saturday .

Speaking at the event, most farmers appreciated the effort put in by the factory management to improving its corporate social responsibility with its farmers and the community at large.

Nzoia sugar has been noted for infrastructure development in rural areas. The newly brand of sugar products were exhibited for citizens to see from as smallest size of 500 grams to 50 Kg bags.

The marketing Manager Mr.Clifford Mabele was proud to mention that through the exhibition the company shows its openness to the society.

 "We are here today to display our production Processes, through to making the end product so that our farmers can feel part and parcel of the sugar making industry," said Mr.Mabele.

 Speaking at the event the Chairman Mr.Lawrence Sifuna said that the factory is working towards being open to its stakeholders so that they can listen to their suggestions and improve its service.

 "We had this exhibition event to find out from our farmers and customers about our services and know whether we are serving them well and improve where we can to their satisfaction," said Mr.Sifuna.

Mr.Sifuna called upon cane farmers to plant cane proffessionally and be loyal to the factory by delivering their cane to the factory.

The Managing Director, Saul Wasilwa informed the public that the factory pays off its farmers maximum 30 days after delivering their cane and called upon farmers to be loyal to their factory.

 "We have listened to the suggestions made by our farmers about fertillizer prices and weighbridges and we promise on it to improve our service.”

His words were echoed by Director Ms.Roselinda Simiyu who called upon farmer resident at Bungoma county to promote their own factory prior to devolved government as a way of improving tax collection to the county.

Also in attendance was the Minister for Justice and Constitutional affairs Eugene Wamalwa who emphasised on gender sensitivity in elective positions as well as board representatives of factory. 

Wamalwa states that the lack of putting that into consideration besides being against has led to the rejection by court of the County Directors recently appointed by the President.

Wamalwa who is also a presidential candidate has dismissed calls for negotiations between the presidential candidates to select one among them to represent western province emphasising the need for democracy in the country which gives room for all.

"Democracy is about competition and there is no way one can step down for the other, we are all in the race and let the best candidate win," said Wamalwa.
