‘’Nucleus Children's Trust” a non-governmental organization has launched an awareness campaign aimed at curbing and reducing child abuse and related cases in Matete District of Kakamega County. Addressing participants during a ceremony to launch the Blue Ribbon Campaign, (a campaign meant to fight all forms of child abuse) at Bezelel primary school in Kaburengo village, the director Mr. John Kariuki disclosed that his NGO had so far handled 2,500 cases touching on child abuse since its inception in the District three years ago. He said that it was the duty of all adult members of society to protect children rights in the area. Speaking on behalf of Matete District Commissioner, area District Officer Mr. James Nyamwamu said the provincial administration supported activities of Nucleus Children Trust and promised to work closely with the NGO in order to make the campaign successful in the district.
