Speaking at Idavaga Muslim Secondary School in Mbale on Tuesday, before attending a function at Chango Secondary School, Mutula argued that the ECD teachers are as important are as important as other civil servants and there is in need to get employment from the government. On the issue of tuition, Mutula said that he is going to abolish it completely saying that he is going to give out a calendar that will guide schools through the academic years. “Am going to abolish tuition in schools and give you a calendar that will guide you to finish syllabus in time,” said the Minister. The minister said that giving tuition to students deprives them the opportunity to interact with their relatives which is an important stage in growth of children. Also present in the school were acting Education PS Prof George Godia and area Mp Yusuf Chanzu who cautioned leaders in the locality from using public funds that are meant for development for their personal interests. Promising to foot the bill for electricity wiring in the school and construction of new classes, Chanzu said that leaders entrusted with public funds should use the funds for the targeted purposes not to enrich themselves. |
