Police and villagers on Thursday morning retrieved the cadaver of a High School Principal from a mangled wreckage of a vehicle that plunged into Isasala River in a tragic road accident believed to have happened on Wednesday night.

The deceased Nicodemus Juma Panyako, a principal of Shikomari Secondary School in Mumias District is believed to have lost control of the a saloon car he was  driving  along the Kakamega/Mumas Road, prompting the car to veer off the road before plunging in the river.

On Thursday morning villagers woke up to the tragic and unsightly scene that remained of the car’s almost submerged wreckage immersed at the center of the fast flowing river with its driver still holding on to the wheels.

Kakamega Police Boss Joseph Omijah said police arrived at the scene to retrieve the car from the river only to realize that the driver was still trapped inside it.

“We think the principal remained trapped in that for very long hours after that accident,” said Omijah.

Elsewhere, residents of the sprawling Amalemba Slums in Kakamega town woke up to a rude shock to find the body of a renowned local chang’aa dealer in the area dumped near a popular Christian Guest House.

The nude body of Jackline Atemba, 26, was found sprawled within the precincts of the guest house located along the Kakamega/Kisumu Highway, about two kilometers from Kakamega Town.

Police believe the deceased was raped before she was murdered by her attackers. Omijah said police have transferred the bodies of the two deceased persons to the Kakamega Provincial Hospital Mortuary.
