Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua has supported the tribunal report that investigated the conduct of the Deputy Chief Justice Nancy Baraza recommending her removal from the Judiciary for gross misconduct.

Speaking to reporters in Kitale on her way to West Pokot County where she is slated to address various political rallies, Karua who is also the Member of Parliament for Gichugu said that as much as she is yet to fully read and comprehend the report, it should be understood that nobody is above the law and rulings by the courts should be respected.

"I was busy doing my campaigns at the grass roots and have not been able to read and understand the reasons they gave, but what I know is that all of us are under the law and therefore, none of us is above the law," said Karua.

She added that the judicial ruling should always be respected despite the fact that some rulings might not be pleasant to everybody, but because it is believed that the court is the trusted and constitutional way of deciding cases then it should always respected.

"Because all of us believe that the law is the one that separates us from fighting then we have no otherwise but to respect any court ruling even if you feel that the ruling is not favoring you," she noted.

The seven-member tribunal chaired by former Chief Justice of Tanzania Augustino Ramadhani on Monday advised President Mwai Kibaki to remove Baraza from office.

Thus, the Tribunal had ruled that, “The tribunal members have unanimously found that the conduct of the DCJ on 31st December 2011 at the Village Market amounted to both gross misconduct and misbehaviour,” they said.

“We therefore recommend to Your Excellency Mwai Kibaki that Lady Justice Nancy Makokha Baraza, the Deputy Chief Justice and the Vice President of the Supreme Court of Kenya, be removed from Office.”

She cited the elections date which she herself wanted to be in December this year but then the Court of Appeal decided on March 4 next year and thus being compelled to accept the decision though against her wishes.

On the elections, the Gichugu MP called on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission -IEBC to maintain its credibility and avoid being manipulated by power brokers in the country so that they can deliver free and fair general elections to Kenyans.

She said that as the country is changing in many aspects and thus the electoral body should also change accordingly and embrace the new technology in handling elections.

"Their oath and calling is to serve the Kenyans and therefore, we are now worried that they agreed to be taken round by brokers until they failed to give out the Biometric voter registration tender but now our appeal to them now as Kenyans and which is legal is that they should listen to the cry of Kenyans to have a peaceful and fair elections conducted by the commission," Karua added.

Even though she cautioned them that all they do should be in conformity with the requirements of the law but within the time frame that Kenyans want the elections held.

On her presidential campaign Karua urged the electorate to vet the aspirants keenly so that they do not vote in corrupt leaders who will enhance their bad deeds and vices.

"You should scrutinize all leaders seeking for elective seats right from the grass roots to the presidency like me, you should be keen on us and vet us thoroughly because if one was corrupt or a violator of the rights of the poor he or she shall continue with the practice even in leadership," pointed out Karua.

She pledged to safeguard the constitution if elected president and promised to offer free education to secondary level and also ensure free medication.

At the same time she called for support from well wishers to support her in her bid and contribute financially towards her presidential campaigns.

"I urge you to stand with the mother or woman to bring change in leadership and those who are able can support my bid with one hundred shillings each and that shall make my bid successful."
