Chief of township location in Bungoma town Joseph Cheng’oli has warned landlords in Bungoma town and its environs against allowing tenants who brew changaa in their houses citing that anyone who will be found carrying out the exercise will be fined up to Sh. 600,000.

In a meeting with some of the landlords in his office on Thursday, Mr. Cheng’oli revealed that the major challenge they go through is how this illegal brew is being reported in high numbers saying that the brewing places act as hiding dens for thieves.

He has cautioned residents that police are all over and whoever will be found indulging in unlawful acts will face the law.

on the other hand, the landlords complained that it has been hard for them to combat this practice since most of the brewers are caught but released on a less fine of money after which they come back to continue with the exercise.

Mr. Cheng’oli has however urged students to distance themselves from any kind of unlawful acts as they are on August holiday.
