Youths in the Country have been challenged to prepare themselves for the tasks enshrined in the new constitution and go for the elective posts in the coming general elections.

The ODM Youth leader at the national level Mr. Rashid Mohammed says that the new constitution has created many chances in decision making organs for the youth and that if they can’t prepare well for the posts they will have no one to blame.

Mr. Mohammed however reminded the youths that the opportunities will not be certified but achieved on one’s education and role in the society.

“No job will be given to any youth on a silver platter. All jobs reserved for the youths will be won through competitive bidding,” he said

Mohammed also urged the youth to register as voters in order for them to elect leaders of their own choice who are destined to bring change within the society.

‘Unless you register as voters you will never get leaders of your choice, let us register as voters by getting our identity cards in order to participate in the exercise come next year,’ he said.

He challenged youths to arm themselves with quality credentials in order to be considered for appointments to various key positions.

“The new constitution has not only opened doors wide for the youths but is a wakeup call for them to further their education,’ he added.

The aspirant notes that time has come for the youths to participate actively in all political, social and economical set ups in the country and asks them to reside up to the challenges.

He advised youths to use their numerical strength and elect many of their own in the counties, senate and the National Assembly in order to increase their voice in the decision making organs.

He was speaking in a meeting with youths within Mumias and Matungu Constituency which drew more than three hundred youths together.

With him were the ODM coordinator in both Matungu and Mumias constituencies Dan Oyondi and the former UDF sub branch chairman Mr. Justine Mutobere who recently ditched the party to ODM citing poor leadership in the party.
