Over 50 IDs stolen from Lugari Divisional Immigration Office

Over 50 identification cards applicants from Lugari division may be forced to freshly apply for the cards following the theft of their documents occasioned by a night burglary into a chief’s office.

Confirming the incident, area chief Evans Adavaji whose part of the office housed the divisional immigration department said unknown burglars gained entry into the office and stole documents and equipment necessary for the printing of cards passports

However, he said part of the printer was discovered destroyed and abandoned few meters away from the office.

He said investigations had been launched to establish the motive of the burglary and apprehend the suspects.

The incident has roundly been condemned by a section of leaders in the area led by “Maendeleo ya wanawake” organization chair lady  Mrs. Rose Manyengo who said the action would back peddle efforts to ensure that a majority of youths are issued with the cards to enable them participate in the forthcoming general elections.
