A 62 year old man believed to be a witchdoctor is being held at Kotur Police Post in Teso South District after he was nabbed in a man’s farm.

The suspect Benedicto Sifuna was caught on spot performing a spell around Simon Okoit farm Saturday night.

The owner raised alarm attracting public members who rushed to the scene and attacked the man together with his host Alfred Omai, brother to the farm owner.

The two were beaten and taken to the Chief’s officer in Simba Chai before they were handed over to the police for further inquiries.

Kotur officers later took the two for medical examination before taking them back to the station, following the incident; police have arrested four people from the mob that attacked the witchdoctor and his host.

Area assistant chief George Okemer declined to comment over the issue with residents pointing accusing fingers to him for failing to contain increased cases of witchdoctors luring the residents that they can perform miracles.
